Antje Bischof, MD: Understanding Vasculitic Neuropathy

"Neurologists should consider these organs when they see a patient with an acute neuropathy and think of a systemic bridging if they find symptoms of the skin or symptoms of cardiac involvement."

At the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Antje Bischof, MD, presented data from her study that described the prevalence, characteristics, and associations of vasculitic neuropathy with other disease manifestations in new-onset antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) in the diagnosis and classification of vasculitis.

The study provides a comprehensive insight into prevalence and organ associations of vasculitic neuropathy, which Bischof explained is most commonly associated with skin and musculoskeletal manifestations.
