The Society for Equity Neuroscience (known as SEQUINS) is honored to announce the Patrick A. Griffith, MD, Award for Excellence in Mentoring in Equity Neuroscience. This prestigious award is named in memory of Patrick A. Griffith, a distinguished leader in neurology and a dedicated advocate for equity in neuroscience. Griffith served as the president of the Clinical Neurological Society of America, the chair of neurology at Meharry Medical College, and the chief of Neurology at Morehouse School of Medicine. His remarkable legacy of mentoring, in particular, has inspired generations of equity-focused neuroscientists, marking his achievements and career as a beacon of inclusive mentorship in the field.

The award celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the mentoring and professional development of future equity neuroscientists. SEQUINS defines mentoring as the process of guiding, supporting, and promoting the growth and career advancement of others. Eligible nominees must be active SEQUINS members engaged in research, teaching, or leadership activities within equity neuroscience and nominated by a mentee who can personally attest to their impactful mentorship.
