“If you’re interested in neuromuscular disease science or medicine, and you are anywhere in the world, you need to be at this conference. This is where the leading experts in the science and medicine of neuromuscular disease are gathering to share the latest data and the latest developments. If you miss this conference, you are behind.”

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) recently announced, on the heels of a return to in-person events, that it will be hosting its 2023 meeting in-person once again for the neuromuscular disease community. The meeting is unique in nature, bringing together the clinician, research, and patient communities to share the latest updates in the clinical care of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and more conditions.

Despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in the past 2 years, the neuromuscular disease community continued to move forward with progress as many research laboratories and clinical trials quickly adapted to the new situations presented to them. As such, the 2023 MDA Conference will explore all the aspects of preclinical, translational, and clinical research advances that have been made in these recent years, aiming to support the efforts toward better care and treatments.

Recently, NeurologyLive® sat down with Donald S. Wood, PhD, the president and CEO of MDA, and Sharon Hesterlee, PhD, the executive vice president and chief research officer of MDA, to find out exactly what attendees can expect from the upcoming 2023 meeting. They shared, in-depth, their perspectives on the key advances that will be covered, the focuses of the meeting—particularly on genetics—and the important information for potential attendees to know.

Registration for the 2023 MDA Conference is now open! The meeting is set to be held at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, Texas, from March 19 to 22, 2023. To register and for more information, head to www.mdaconference.org. Early bird registration closes on December 31, 2022!
