The Alliances Align: PMD Alliance to Acquire Parkinson Alliance’s Patient-Centric Research Portfolio and Launch Margaret Tuchman Resource Library

(New York, NY) President and CEO of Parkinson Alliance, Carol Walton, announces a new home for the organization’s library of research reports: PMD Alliance. Since their founding in 1999, the Parkinson Alliance (PA) has synthesized the voices of over 26,000 survey participants to produce a robust and comprehensive collection of over 35 patient-centric research reports. Over the past few years, PA and fellow advocacy organization Parkinson and Movement Disorder Alliance (PMD Alliance) have been close collaborators, both dedicated to uplifting people living with Parkinson’s disease.

PA founder Margaret Tuchman was adamant that researchers must consider the voice of people with Parkinson’s, and PMD Alliance CEO Andrea Merriam agrees “people with Parkinson’s and their families live with the disease and its symptoms every second of every day, and when their expertise and lived experience is respected, the research community benefits in myriad ways such as increased participation, better designed trials, and overall unity in purpose.”

Carol Walton will also join the PMD Alliance team in an Of Counsel role, bringing her decades of rich experience and relationships in the Parkinson’s community to PMD Alliance. Carol and Andrea will answer questions and unveil the Margaret Tuchman Resource Library in two ways: to a global audience via online livestream on June 2nd, and at PMD Alliance’s annual ATMRD congress in Washington, DC on June 8th.
